You can draw better than you think! Gain the understanding of drawing materials and basic concepts such as perspective and composition. Suitable for beginning and intermediate students.
Drawing Supplies
Drawing Pad at least 9 x 12
Drawing pencils of varying softness; “B” designations are soft pencils, the higher the number the darker. “H” pencils are harder lead, lighter lines; the higher the number, lighter lines. B leads produce softer, heavier lines, numbers 2, 4 and 6 B are great. “H” pencils are harder lead, producing lighter lines; the higher the number, the lighter. 4 and 6H are good choices. HB is average between hard and soft.
Charcoal – A few charcoal sticks or pencils. Charcoal pencils have similar designations for darkness. Charcoal sticks are great for shading large areas. Rembrandt used charcoal, often called chalk.
Conte – A wonderful tool, similar to charcoal sticks but with a bit of wax added so a bit less dusty than charcoal. They come in a variety of attractive colors; black, white, sepia and sanguine, especially nice.
Pens – come in sets of 4 – 6 pens with fine to wider points. Micron brand is a good, versatile, choice.
Eraser
Whatever else you have that you like to work with.
