NORCROSS PHOTOGRAPHY COMPETITION EXHIBITIONS OPEN!
The photography competition, Norcross, Life through the Lens, or La vida a trave’s del lente, opens on September 14 at three locations. The Rectory at 10 College Street, Cafe45South Peachtree, and Norcross Gallery and Studios at 116 Carlyle Street. The exhibitions feature 75 photographs taken in Norcross during the July 4 holiday celebration and selected by a jury of professional photographers, Tracey Rice, HGay Allen, and Pablo Andres Rodriguez.
Norcross Public Arts Commission was first among the competition’s sponsors, whose generosity helped make the competition free for everyone to enter. These were April MacManus of Keller Williams, Cafe45South, the City of Norcross, the Georgia Council for the Arts, the National Endowment for the Arts, the Gwinnett Creativity Fund, and Southwest Gwinnett Magazine.
The exhibitions will be up until the end of October, forming part of Artober events in the City of Norcross along with Hispanic Heritage Month and the Art Splash Festival. Most weekends during that time period the public is invited to watch NG&S Director Anne Hall painting her interpretations of competition photographs at The Rectory, Saturday and Sunday from 1-5. The first photograph she attempts will be “A Strange Quiet,” by Gabriel Trujillo, who has provided permission for her to use his artwork to make hers.
If you can’t make it to any of these exhibitions, all of the entries are available to see online.
