Lynda Ellis

Artist bio

I strive above all to capture the light. Light creates the space and defines solidity but without destroying its luminosity. Whether the work is objective as the reality of a landscape or figure, or an abstract composition, my aim is to describe the character of a time and place, or the essence of a mood or sensation – all revealed by the light. I focus on the temperature of colors – the play of color with light. Light and shadow, figure-ground relations, and color intensity create drama. Brush strokes generate a sense of movement, enable an impressionistic sense of immediacy, and allow a painting to glow and its colors to dance.

I would love to meet with you by appointment in my Studio D at Norcross Gallery and Studios to show you my work or talk about your ideas for project you might like me to do for you. .
