Artist bio

I have always enjoyed framing the world in unique ways with photography. Ever since my Dad gave me his old camera as a teen, I have enjoyed exploring Other Ways of Seeing. I’ve worked in a variety of genres: sports, landscape, nature, portrait, documentary, abstract, and night photography.

Water has always been a preferred location because of it’s reflective quality, and the inevitable presence of wildlife. Even in urban or suburban settings, water gives us local access to daily studies of natural beauty. My fine art collection Reflections in Water is a celebration of the autumn palette, in which reflections on the surface of the water resemble impressionist paintings. My other fine art collection is Light Moves – long-exposure motion studies of local holiday lights, in which a static display is abstracted into dimensional space. My camera maneuvers are spontaneous yet intentional when creating these photographs, and have become improvisational as I’ve developed the technique. Both collections use local locations, and are seasonal in nature. So while opportunities to make them are fleeting, searching for them is always a delightful treasure hunt.

As a creative witness, my craft is to capture photographs that celebrate the natural beauty around us, even in the most mundane places. I hope viewers are inspired to take time to see it in their daily lives. I am grateful to be a part of the Norcross Gallery & Studios community, and to share my work with you.
